If you're including congregations that split and left to form new churches, St. Johns (Tallahassee, FL) split; its priests and most of its congregation formed St Peter's Anglican. (http://www.saint-peters.net/) and they're part of AANF.

In October 2006 a large group (mostly parishioners of Christ Episcopal Church in Elizabeth City, NC) formed a new Anglican church across the river in Camden, NC. At the first service of Anglican Church of the Redeemer there were about 114 people in attendance. The former Rector and Deacon of Christ Church both left and now serve in those capacities at Redeemer. The church is under the jurisdiction of the Anglican Church of Kenya. After 18 months we are still going strong. See website:
www.anglicanchurchoftheredeemer.org

Re Anglican Church of the Redeemer. When we were part of Christ Church we were in the Diocese of East Carolina. Since starting up under Kenya, East Carolina's bishop (Daniel) has deposed both the Rector and the Deacon -- badges of honor for them!

Grace Episcopal in San Marcos split in Sept 2006. Their rector resigned and formed Anglican Church of the Resurrection. Their affiliation is with Anglican Church of Argentina.

I found another one in the Diocese of San Diego.
Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Carlsbad, split to form Good Shepherd Anglican Church in Encinitas. Its Affiliation is with the Diocese of Bolivia. The split happened 11/2006.

I found all 9 that left/split in San Diego, this is as of 2007. Some you already have, here is what I found with the breakaway church.
All Saints' Episcopal Church in Vista, breakaway church: Holy Family Anglican Church
St.Timothy's Episcopal Church in Rancho Penasquitos, breakaway church: St. Timothy and St. Titus Anglican Church in Poway.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Yuma Arizona, breakaway church: Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church in Yuma Arizona

anonymous (martin4?),

Thanks, I'm working on posting those. I have a couple of them up. I'm having trouble confirming what happened at All Saints Vista. The Rector is now at St. Annes Anglican.

Thanks,

martin4 is what I use at Standfirm. I could not figure out how to post without being anoymous.
All Saints' in Vista is an interesting story. The Holy Family Anglican church is actually as of 01/27/2007 a church plant supported by St. Anne's. Fr. Rees left All Saints' and took some of the parishoners with him. So I am not sure if it counts but it would explain why some report 8 churches that split and this last article I found, stated 9. They listed Holy Family as a breakaway. The episcopal congregation of St. Anne's and St. John's have gone to All Saints in Vista.

Parish of the Church of the Transfiguration broke away to become the Anglican Church of the Transfiguration in Cleveland 04/08

Thanks again Martin. I've added the OH and MA churches in the updated Departures list.
I appreciate your hard working contributions to this list.

Diocese Of Massachusetts
All Saints Episcopal church in Attleboro split to become All Saints Anglican in 2007. Their affiliation is with Rwanda.

Anonymous said...

Why do you say San Joachim instead of San Joaquin? Is this a political statement?

Thank you.

No politics, just a spelling error copied and pasted over and over and over and . . .

Thanks.

Diocese of Florida
Advent Episcopal Church split:
Holy Cross Anglican
Kenya

St. Bartholomew, High Springs split: Christ's Anglican Church
southern cone

Calvary Episcopal Church, Jacksonville became Calvary Anglican

St. Francis of Assissi, Tallahassee
split: All Saints Anglican
Kenya

Epiphany, Jacksonville split:
Christ Church
Rwanda

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Jacksonville split:

I think that makes the Diocese of Florida up to date. I read somewhere that 17 that have left.

Some others:
Diocese of Georgia:
St. Thomas, St. Thomasville split:
Trinity Anglican
Uganda and part of the Anglican Alliance of North Florida

That is it for the time being. The above I believe left in 2005/2006 time frame.

St. John's Melbourne Beach

Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Winter Haven

Gloria Dei Church of Cocoa

St. Anne's Church, Crystal River

Church of the Good Shepherd

St. Edward the Confessor, Mount Dora
The above were reported in 2007.

Diocese of the Gulf Coast
Christ Church Cathedral, Mobile
I believe they split in 2007.

I see that I duplicated Christ the Redeemer from your list so to redeem myself I found one in the Diocese of Alabama and two others in New York ...

Diocese of Alabama:
Church of the Ascension, Montgomery
The church was 1600 members in 2004, 500 ASA in 2006 780 members and 200 ASA.

I have not gotten to New York yet but I stumbled on two more churches.
Diocese of Rochester
All Saints Episcopal church the whole congregation left in 2005 and went Uganda.
Diocese of Long Island
St. James Episcopal Church in Elmhurst split in 2005 to form St. James Anglican Church. They joined Anglican Church in America.

Anonymous said...

Another one.
Diocese of Arizona
St. James the Apostle Episcopal Church in Tempe. They split to form Living Faith Anglican Church
In 2004, they had 650 members. In 2006, that dropped to 250. In 2003, their plate and pledge peaked at $450,000. In 2006, it was $180,000.

Dio of Central Gulf Coast
the Episcopal Church of the Apostles left in 2006 (about 100) and formes The Church of the Apostles in Daphne, Alabama. The Rev Robert Seawell was an Episcopal priest for 21 years and was well respected. I can't find who they are affiliated with.

Unknown said...

Church of the Holy Trinity, Diocese of Massachusetts. All parishioners except for one couple left and formed Holy Trinity Anglican Church 11/07. Affiliated with the AMiA, Bishop Thaddeus Barnum, Bishop Emeritus: Bishop Donald Harvey.

Thanks for this interesting list. Are you also going to list Anglican Churches that are not a result of a split or departure? There are a bunch which are not splits from TEC, some of these are led by clergy and/or laity who used to be TEC, but they are not church splits. They probably would have been Episcopalian if it weren't for TEC's sad state of doctrine and practice.
